I totally stole the title of this blog post from Kadian Langlais who recently said that phrase when she posted on Social Media a few of her favorite images from a photoshoot I recently shot of her and her beautiful and stylish family. Thanks Kadian! I owe you.
It's always an adventure scouting new locations for shoots with Kadian (aka "KDN") and Gus (aka "GustoFresh"), and their wonderful kids. This year's holiday theme would include black outfits, and a splash of red. So I couldn't just pick a random park. The location had to be perfect.
Our two previous holiday photoshoots were at the High Museum in Midtown Atlanta, and at the Matress Factory Lofts a few minutes south of Downtown ATL. Both photoshoots were very nice, and we came away having had a great time and captured awesome images.
It took me about two to three days to locate a workable location for the Langlais' third photoshoot with me. I had heard of Decatur Square, and Googled pictures online. It looked promising. So, like I always do when location scouting, I drove to Decatur Square to see for myself.

I walked around just about every inch of the Square, snapping a few cellphone pics of specific spots I liked. Alleys. Walkways. Doorways. Stairs. Walls. You name it. Then it was time to get the buy-in from Gus and KDN. I sent them a few of the scouting shots I took, and they were totally onboard. BAM! Perfect.
The Square is rich with beautiful historic architecture, including the old Dekalb County Courthouse Museum with its majestic stairs on both sides of the structure. The gazebo serves as a very nice centerpiece, surrounded by unique boutiques and restaurants.
This was the right location for this family photoshoot.
My wife, Christina is a professional makeup artist, and provided KDN with a full-face makeup session.
KDN and Gus are originally from New York, so the location had to fit their personality and modern chic fashion style. Traditional parks and southern farms with barns were out of the picture for this photoshoot. These are progressive city folks, and their kids are just as stylish. #familygoals
